Krafton Has Filed a Lawsuit Against Garena Free Fire for Copying of Pubg Game on App and Playstore Crafton Company has filed an official legal case on App and Play stores alleging that Garena’s Free Fire game resembles our Pubg.

Krafton, owner of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), filed suit this week against Apple, Google and Garena over Free Fire and Free Fire Max mobile battle royale shooters which it contends infringe on PUBG, according to Bloomberg Law.

“Both Free Fire and Free Fire Max closely mimic numerous aspects of Battlegrounds, both individually and collectively, including its copyrighted “air drop” feature for game opening, its game structure and play, combination and selection of weapons, armor, unique objects, locations as well as choice of color schemes, materials and textures,” according to Krafton.

Krafton Game Union, who created PUBG, has taken issue with Google and Youtube for hosting videos featuring Garena’s Free Fire and Free Fire Max games on their platforms. They allege that these copies include game structures, item equipment and locations reminiscent of those seen in PUBG battlegrounds.

Crafton reports that Bali Garena, owned by Singapore Steel Limited, first offered its Free Fire game through Apple and Google App stores for purchase starting in 2017, before switching over to selling “Free Fire Max.” A second round of sales also began after this designation was given in 2021.

Both games remain on Apple and Google Play stores; according to Krafton, Garena earned “hundreds of millions of dollars” by selling these titles; Apple and Google were successful at distributing these games as well. After making significant money off this venture, Crafton asked YouTube to remove all copyrighted videos, yet these still remain accessible on its platform.
