Types of Hot Water SystemsTypes of Hot Water Systems

Are you looking to learn about hot water systems? If so, this is all you need to know about the different types of hot water systems out right now.

  1. Electric Heaters

Electric water systems run on electricity and need one or two internal heating elements to do so. These heating elements derive electricity through the M Tariff and J Tariff.

Both tariffs have the same goal, and that is to power an internal heating element. Where they differ is, when each tariff heats the water.

The M Tariff works all the time to keep the water in a tank hot. It monitors the temperature of the water, and once it drops to a suboptimal level, the M Tariff works to bring it back up.

The other tariff, the J Tariff, also works to keep water hot but only uses off-peak electricity.

A heater with two internal heating elements has both tariffs working to keep water in a tank hot all day and all night long.

  1. Solar Heaters

A solar heater is a fantastic way to save money while also saving the environment. A solar water system uses solar energy to power the tank that heats the water.

The energy that heats the water tank is minuscule, meaning there is minimal emission of greenhouse gases. The sun’s energy is free, so there is no need for regular payments for a power source.

A solar heater works perfectly, but a gas or electric booster element usually comes with these heaters for days with little to no sunshine.

  1. Gas Heaters

A gas heater uses gas to heat water in a storage tank. Water fills the tank from the mains supply. As soon as the tank is full, a built-in thermostat starts to monitor the water temperature. If the temperature is low, the heating will start until the temperature is at an optimal level.

A gas heater is a more affordable alternative to an electric heater, and since gas rates are constant, there is no need to delegate when the gas heater operates.

Most installations of a gas water system occur outside because of some venting requirements. Indoor installations rarely happen, but when they do, it is with the use of a flue.

  1. Heat Pump Heaters

A heat pump water system does precisely what its name say it does. A heat pump water system absorbs heat from the air and uses it to heat water in a tank. This type of heater works like a fridge but in reverse.

Using a heat pump water system is more affordable than other options and is less damaging to the environment. A heat pump heater works in any condition. However, it is more likely to weaken in colder areas.

Installation is easy and can have the storage tank and heat pump in different locations depending on where works best.

  1. The Bottom Line

You’re done reading, and you know which type of hot water system to buy, but you do not know what to do next? You should find a licensed plumber to install the hot water system that suits your needs.
